Human Growth Hormone
Growth hormone (scientific name: Somatotropin) is a protein based hormone, produced by the pituitary gland. It is made up of 191 amino acids, linked in specific order and bent into specific shape. In the human body the growth hormone plays a central role in the growth process and maturation from child to adult as well as regulates a number of metabolic and physiological processes throughout life.
Amino Acids
Building blocks of proteins. They are simple organic compounds made from amine (-NH2) and carboxylic acid (-COOH) functional groups. Many occur naturally in the human body and are essential for us. More than 500 amino acids are currently known.
191 amino acid sequence
Human growth hormone is a large and fragile molecule comprising of 191 amino acids which are linked in specific sequence.
192 amino acid sequence
A molecule similar to human growth hormone with an extra methionine amino acid attached. Natural human growth hormone contains 191 amino acids. While the 192 amino acid variant functions similarly in the human body, it can lead to the build up of anti bodies and in worst case scenario could cause the immune system to attack the body's own growth hormone.
Big pharma
The pharmaceutical lobby (also known as drug lobby) - a collective undertaking of large western pharmaceutical corporations who use questionable tactics to secure their financial interests often on the expense of the buyers.
Pituitary gland (Hypophysis)
A hormone producing gland located in the human brain. In humans it is the size of a pea, weighing roughly 0.5 grams. It secretes various important hormones, including the growth hormone.
Somatropin
Scientific name for synthetic human growth hormone.
Somatotropin (british: Somatotrophin)
Scientific name for endogenous (body's own naturally produced) human growth hormone.
Somatrem
Scientific name for the 192 amino acid sequence growth hormone mimic - a molecule similar to somatropin. It has an extra methionine amino acid attached to the sequence.
Met-GH
Another name for Somatrem, the 192 amino acid HGH mimic.
HGH
Abbreviation for Human Growth Hormone.
GH
Even shorted abbreviation for Growth Hormone.
rHGH
Abbreviation for recombinant human growth hormone (Somatropin).
HGH Kits
In the late 1990's some manufacturers included syringes and water vials for reconstitution in the HGH boxes. People named this "kits" and the word has since been used as synonym for HGH box.
IGF-1
Abbreviation for Insulin-like growth factor, also known as Somatomedin C. It is similar in molecular structure to insulin. It is responsible for growth in childhood and muscle growth in adults. Injecting growth hormone causes an increase in IGF-1 levels.
Diluent
Liquid used to reconstitute the lyophilized (freeze dried) hgh powder. Most commonly plain sterile water is used for reconstitution of somatropin.
Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1)
A hormone made primarily in the liver that works in conjunction with HGH to promote growth. When IGF-1 is triggered by growth hormone, they work together to help bones, muscles, and other body tissues grow.
Injection site
Location where the needle penetrates through skin in order to inject the medicine. HGH is injected either under the skin or into the muscle at various suitable locations (stomach fat, shoulder, buttocks, thighs).
Intramuscular injection
Injecting into the muscle - usually shoulder, buttock or thigh.
Subcutaneous injection
Injecting under the skin - usually in the stomach fat around the belly area.
HGH cycle
A period during which a person is taking daily growth hormone injections. For recreational use people generally keep their cycles between 2 to 6 months.
